Lent 2010 - Sealed by the Holy Spirit; Marked with the
Cross of Christ
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17 with worship services at 12 noon
and 6:30 p.m.
Our 2010 theme is Sealed by the Holy Spirit; Marked with the Cross of Christ. These words from
the Baptism service set us apart from the world and for the Lord. On Wednesdays in Lent we will focus on the theme Sealed
by the Holy Spirit using the parts of Luther's seal as a guide. Ash Wednesday and Sundays will center on the cross,
the mark put upon us in Baptism and in the ashes of repentance on Ash Wednesday.
Heighten the challenge and awareness of you lenten journey by starting off with an hour's walk through
the prayer labyrinth. This prayer event which includes motion and sensory awareness calls you to a deeper place in the
spirit. The labyrinth will be set up in the fellowship hall, and the lighting will be dimmed. If you have an hour
for meditation and prayer, walk the labyrinth of faith. There will be a guide present to get you started.
Shrove Tuesday means pancakes
Mark the day before Lent with pancakes again this year. Our youth would love
to serve you fresh from the griddle flapjacks along with sausage and applesauce on Tuesday, Feb. 16 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Bring the kids and bring your hunger. A free will offering for youth activities is your opportunity to support their
programs.
