Annual Meeting News
The annual meeting of the congregation was held Sunday,
Feb. 5. About 55 people attended the meeting. Muriel Arms, Brett Christensen, Pastor Krahn, and Pastor Berggren
all gave oral reports that added to their written reports. Pastor B. preached in the worship services that what we so
often take for granted in the routines of the church are actually extraordinary events that match the day to day ministry
of Jesus.
President Mike Ferris moved the meeting along smoothly, and
Eric Peterson, a member of the synod council, brought greetings from Bishop Burnside and the synod. Mr. Peterson thanked
the congregation for their strong participation in supporting the synod in many ways. Dick Bohling reported that Oakwood
Lutheran Homes would like us to send more delegates to their annual meeting. Anyone interested should contact him of
the church office.
Ralph Stauffacher reported that the roof and siding
on the education wing a dearly in need of repair. At the recommendation of the entire council, the congregation approved
a resolution that allows the council to borrow up to $30,000 to make the necessary repairs.
Bruce Hutler reported on behalf of the Board of Finance that we ended 2011 with a small surplus and
that part of that went to support the synod and the churchwide organization. He presented the recommended 2012 budget to the
congregation, and they approved a balanced budget of $577,750 for operating expenses. The budget includes $45,000 for
the synod and $2,500 for the Sun Prairie Food Pantry.
The president
thanked those who had completed council terms: Gail Niesl, Helen Feaster, Shawn Bryant, and Bill Rockeman. In elections
for three-year terms the congregation elected Gail Niesl as treasurer, Dan Bradley to chair the Board of Church in Society,
Paul Thurston to Finance, and Mike Bandli to Public Relations.
