The Long Range Planning Committee met on March 17
to begin the process of pulling together all the thoughts and hopes that were expressed by the Holy Conversation groups and
interviews with community members. Wow! Was there a lot to go through.
Several themes emerged from
the process, and probably the most common was a concern for the huge growth we seem to see in Sun Prairie. Many folks
talked about their perception of some of the negative things that come with the growth, especially crime, divided communities,
and taxes. One of the committee members took note of how almost all of the conversation groups tended to look outward
toward service and being part of something positive in the community. We'll see what happens as the committee begins
to formulate more concrete ideas.
Thanks to everyone who participated. I know the Long Range Planning Committee
hopes to have a final report for the council by May.
