What is a Holy Conversation?
As we look to the future and plan for the years to come, Holy Conversations are directed gatherings
of a relatively small group of people where we simply talk about the church. Participants are asked to stay positive
and look for the opportunties before us.
There is a group of folks appointed by the council who
will direct the conversations and help draw it all together for them.
What, no questionnaire?
That's right. This
form of long range planning depends on group meetings where talk spurs ideas, hopes, and new understandings. Luther called
such talk the "mutual conversation of the saints," and we hope to set directions for the future from such events.
Who gets to take part?
There are basically
three converstion areas:
First, there are several already-active groups to be used. The
quilting group and the Council are good examples.
Second, there are several small groups formed out of pre-selected demographic areas. For instance, families with children
under 10. Within these areas, folks were picked at random so that the size of the group did not become too big for any
good conversation.
Third, there will be several
open sessions where anyone can come. They will be limited in size, but if there are a lot of folks interested in the
conversation we will add more groups. Be watching this space for dates and times.
